FEEL BETTER. MOVE BETTER. LIVE BETTER.

Your feet are the foundation of your body. They support you when you stand, walk, or run. They help protect your spine, bones, and soft tissues from damaging stress as you move around. Your feet perform better when all their muscles, arches, and bones are in their ideal stable positions.

Unfortunately, problems with feet are extremely common in the Western world where we continually walk and stand on hard flat surfaces and where we often choose poor supporting footwear. Patients may have arches that are ‘dropped’ (pronated) or are too high and rigid (supinated). They may also have problems in the muscles and joints of the feet. Problems in the feet can affect the legs, knees, hips and back. Likewise, problems with the hip, pelvis or lower back can cause foot pain.
I have heard it is painful. Is it?2022-03-30T18:27:47+00:00

As with any technique patient tolerance is the key. You may experience minor discomfort or pain and some mild bruising afterwards, but the results make it all worthwhile

As always we utilize multiple techniques and approaches with your care and usually include ultrasound and rehab exercises with your Graston treatments for fastest results.

What conditions can it help?2022-03-30T18:27:34+00:00

The majority of soft tissue injuries respond well to Graston with research showing an average 87% success rate.  A partial list of conditions that respond to Graston Technique includes:

  • Rotator cuff tendonitis/osis and frozen shoulder
  • Tennis elbow/Golfer’s elbow
  • Chronic low back and neck/whiplash pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Shin splints, ITB syndrome and hamstring injuries
  • Patellar and Achilles tendonitis
  • Other forms of chronic scar tissue including post-surgical
Why are scar tissue and adhesions a problem?2022-03-30T18:27:22+00:00

Scar tissue is resistant to exercise and most soft tissue treatments. It limits range of motion, can entrap nerves and cause pain and reduced function.

How does it work?2022-03-30T18:27:10+00:00

You can think of the Graston Technique as a deeper, more intense version of manual therapy. Specially trained clinicians use specially designed Graston tools in two ways. First, to locate muscle knots or restrictions. They do this by running the tools over your skin to feel for fibrous or scar tissue that may be causing you pain or restricting your movement. Second, they use the tools to break up that tissue to restore mobility and function.
